Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers tables.
Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
